The course is three FULL days. Expect minimum 8:00am to 6:00pm each day

The aim of this course is to prepare the Coach candidate to teach basic skydiving skills to novices and then evaluate and give them effective feedback on their performance.

Please ensure that you come with the most current versions following:

Complete the following exercises in the Workbook. It should only take 20-30 minutes so please do this before the course.

Please also ensure you’ve completed your video jump as described on the CSPA website.
The C1 Workbook precourse tasks are to be completed prior to the course and in printed form. The others can be in electronic form on either computers or tablets. Most Candidates find it useful to have something to take notes on during the course.

Note that there is a video jump that is supposed to be done prior to the course. Please have this done PRIOR to the course or you will have to work this into an already busy course.

Also note that the Technical Presentation (Section 2.8) mentioned in the workbook will be assigned at the end of the first day and will not be a course Pre-Task.

It is also HIGHLY RECOMMEDED that candidates read the C1 Reference Manual prior to the Course. Most of the candidates on past courses who do not do so struggle with the technical part of the course as there is little time on the course for reading. There is no need for memorization of the information, but familiarity with the information is more than helpful for active learning. The C1 Reference Manual is 154 pages long so judge your time accordingly. Trust me, it is better to have this done prior rather than trying to do this on the course (will make an already long day much longer….)

Candidates who show up to the course unprepared risk being REMOVED from the course by the Course Facilitator. Experience has proven that those who show unprepared tend to struggle on the course and SLOW DOWN the learning process for those who have shown up prepared.

Bring your CSPA Membership Card. Ensure that your CSPA Membership is current prior to arriving.

If you are interested in getting the Ground Control Instructor (GCI) Rating as part of this course, please advise so I can bring the appropriate number of portfolios. Training will be done after the end of one of the days.

Please advise if there are any questions or clarifications required.

Looking forward to seeing you!

The following video is an example of a typical Jump 1 for the C1 course. Note that the coach’s job is to be close enough to observe, from an appropriate location, and leave at an appropriate time and create suitable separation.
